Personal fall protection systems are the last line of defence between workers and an injury or even death. Despite advances in the design of safety harnesses, falls from heights remain one of the leading causes of death at the workplace. Even the most sophisticated and high-quality fall protection equipment is worthless if it is not used properly. Our safety harness course aims at offering the attendees on how to safely use and inspect the safety harnesses both through theoretical and practical knowledge.
- A comprehensive knowledge of work at height safety
- Harness and lanyard pre-use inspection
- Harness types and design standards
- Fall prevention
- Protection and arrest
- Identify correct tie-off and anchor points
- Correct wearing and fitting of harness
This course is beneficial for anyone who is required to use safety harnesses as part of their work, enabling the confident use, maintenance, and inspection of the harness in line with Health and Safety and Working at Height regulations.
Learners must be 16 years old or above and physically capable of working with the safety harness. They need to bring along a valid ID, National Insurance and Proof of Address. Learners will also have to bring their harness and lanyard for practical presentations. However, if anyone does not have their own harness, please contact us and we can provide one for a small fee.
At the end of the course, attendees will be assessed through a short assessment paper. People who successfully complete the course will have the Harness (H) category added to their Powered Access Licence (PAL) which is valid for 5 years. Those who do not have a current IPAF Operator Licence (PAL) card will be awarded a certificate only.
